Exciting International Art Show & Symposium Coming this September to Alberta

For the last, almost two years, I have been a volunteer committee member for an exciting show and symposium that will be held in St Albert, Alberta, from September 1 – 6th, 2022. Originally slated to be held in 2021, it was cancelled due to the pandemic, hence the word “Reboot’ in the title.

Pushing Boundaries [Reboot] 2022 is the theme for the first ISEA symposium to be held in Canada. This week-long event is a chance to immerse yourself in creativity.  Share, learn, explore and discover along with artists of all backgrounds and experiences. Our exciting and award-winning presenters will provide workshops, demonstrations, and discussions.” (website)

For me, looking at the ‘menu’ of courses and reading about the international artists is like being in a candy shop. There’s something for everyone – regardless of their artistic experience.

Each presenter explores a unique perspective in their artwork. Paul Gravet creates fine art images in layers using his camera.(see image above). Renata Janiszewska takes digital art to a whole new level. If you’ve ever wondered what an ‘NFT’ is, and how this new method of creating provenance will affect artists and their work, now is the time for find out.

Regular patrons of the Art Gallery of Alberta will be familiar with the name Lyndal Osborne, so it is with great anticipation that we await her presentation. Participants can choose from a 2 day event, a 3 day event or the whole week – a 5 day event. For the first time this year there will also be a virtual option.

So set aside the long weekend in September to take part in this event. You can be a participant and attend the symposium, be a volunteer and help out during the week, or simply attend the opening night at the Art Gallery of St Albert. Over $14,000 US is being awarded to the best entries in the show.
