Mantle lustres, hand painted parlor lamp, and antique platters.
Our home, aka the “Bell Residence” in the Highlands of Edmonton, has been sold. Now comes the not-so-much-fun part – moving. I have been collecting antiques for many years. Although the majority of nice pieces I came across were sold in my antique store years ago, I managed to hang on to some of the pieces I really liked.

Stained glass, candle sticks in brass and wood, a Flapper Dress from the 1920’s, antique prints, Jewish beaded cushion and plenty of books on antiques and house restoration.
The problem with downsizing, especially moving from a 106 year old house to a 19 year old house, is that many of the pieces that worked in the first place won’t work in the second. So, in the same way I have held antique sales for others in the past. it’s time to do my own. My sale will be next Saturday, October 27th from 11:00 – 3:00 PM.
In addition to antiques there will also be garden furniture, ornaments and tools. These were also chosen by me because they suited the style of a heritage home. If you like the style, you’re bound to find something for your own garden.

Antique china, dining room furniture, antique tins, antique books and more.
There is a structure to my sales.
- In order to be fair to all, no one is allowed in early (unless the weather is bad). Enter through the garage door to see the garden items first then proceed to the house to see the antiques.
- People are responsible for bringing their own boxes, bags and wrapping paper.
- Cash only.
- Prices are already at wholesale (in many cases less than wholesale) therefor the prices are firm for the first three hours. Prices may be negotiated at my discretion during the last hour for remaining items.
As this is a by-invitation sale, please contact me to get the address of the sale. Please let me know if you have questions.

Please advise address for antique sale
Linda
11233 63 street. Start in garage accessible from back lane or through side yard.
Best of luck with your sale Johanne! I’m not sure that I can come as I am working that day. However, I am looking for silver flatware – do you have any such items in your sale? Best of luck too with your move – such a big job, isn’t it? I contemplate doing that quite regularly but don’t want to buy anything right now. Plus I have two dogs which really limits where I can live. My neighbourhood has turned into a construction zone – infill housing being built and much of it not very appealing. Lots of noise and equipment for two summers now… Take care and enjoy your new home!

Great to hear from you Cathy. Yes many of the city’s older districts have become construction zones. I have a C1900 silver-plated fish set for twelve for sale for $35. Consists of 12 forks and 12 fish knives (with notched blade). Lots of other stuff too. Too bad when work gets in the way of living!!! 😉
Hello Johanne. That must be something to move to a new home! You have contributed so much to those of us who appreciate living and preserving heritage. My husband and I would like to know your address so we may attend your sale.
Thanks for the kind words Cathy. Then address is 11233 63 street. The sale starts at 11:00 until 3pm. Because this is much like a by invitation sale people usually come for 11:00, unlike other sales. Start with the garage to see the items there then make your way into the house. Someone hopefully will be around to guide you! See you Saturday.
Would very much like to attend sale. Please send address

Hi Joanne,
Would so love to come to see your house and the amazing treasure you have for sale, but I too went through downsizing… not a memorable time. I did however manage to hang on to many special treasured pieces…I wish you all the best in the next chapter…please keep my email so we can stay in touch…still need to go for coffee.
Hello Johanne, I would love to come to your sale. Surprised to here you are moving from your lovely home.
I know, it’s sad but you and I will be almost neighbours! We will be in Oakmont. See you on Saturday!
I’m so sorry to miss this! I hope you consider a small second p.s. sale the next Saturday!! (I’m sure I shouldn’t wish that on anyone…) Have a good time! You’ve given so very much to an understanding and appreciation of the ‘aesthetics of the old’.
Thanks very much Eunice. I’ve enjoyed every minute of sharing our heritage home with others but time marches on and changes happen whether you embrace them or not.
Hello Joanne. Congratulations on selling your lovely home! Both my husband and I would love to attend the sale. I have taken several of your classes at NESA and thoroughly enjoyed them. My contact info is indicated below.
Sounds great Barbara. See you then!
Barbara; do you have the address?
Hi Joanne. Yes, I have your address. Thank you. Looking forward to Saturday.
Good. See you then!
