It’s Spring! Well, sort of. In any case it’s time to start thinking of this year’s projects, whether that means doing some work around your heritage home or beginning the task of decluttering – or both. Here’s a short schedule of the classes I will teaching over the next 6 weeks:
Millwork and Floors (This Old Edmonton House Seminars) Learn how to revive tired woodwork without stripping, and how to repair, restore and replace if necessary. Don’t Throw Away the Van Gogh Ready to start decluttering? Have you inherited objects from family members that you don’t have any idea of value? Will you take the chance of throwing away treasure with that trash? Tuesday April 10, 2018 6:30 – 8:00 PM at the St. Albert Library on Anne Street. China 101: What exactly do you know about the china that belonged to your grandmother or your mother? In this class you will find out what china marks mean and learn how to do research to find out the history and value of the objects you bring to class. (max. 3 pieces per person). We will also debunk those myths about how to take care of china and discuss the best methods for storing and moving china. Historic Interiors & Tour of Rutherford House: (This Old Edmonton House Seminars) Tour Rutherford House on the University of Alberta campus to view first-hand how the former Premier’s residence was laid out. The focus of this tour will be on layout, materials, lighting and furniture (now antique) that was prevalent at the time. A great workshop if you are restoring your old house or just interested in history. Wall Treatments: (This Old Edmonton House Seminars) In this workshop, you will learn about the importance of using historic colour in your home and how to use embossed papers and wall paper treatments to create a great look while camouflaging less than perfect walls. Edmonton Lifelong Learning Association: This is the third time I will be teaching at this fantastic event that is open to anyone 55 years and older.
