You know that spring is around the corner when the City of Edmonton Planning Department unveils its seminars designed specifically for owners of old houses. Known as the ‘This Old Edmonton House’ seminars, these sessions cover almost every aspect of owning an old house. This includes talks on windows and doors, mechanical systems, roofs and exteriors, foundations, and plastering walls.
I will be doing two of the sessions – one on Millwork & Floors ( April 2) and on Wall Treatments (April 9th). On Saturday April 5th from 10AM until noon I will be giving a tour of two houses in Fort Edmonton that, although only 6 years apart in terms of date of construction, are almost 30 years apart stylistically. These homes are wonderfully authentic examples of late Victorian decor and Arts and Crafts.
