Craft and Book Sales Season

Sometimes I think the Gods conspire to pack every event into one month. November is such a month. There are Christmas Craft Sales like the one that’s taking place at the Highland’s United Church (11305 – 64 street) on Saturday, November 16th from 10 – 3 pm. I enjoy going to this event every year – partly because it’s close to home but also because their bake table saves me from having to do any baking for the season (except for the shortbread cookies my husband always wants me to make). There are several craft tables selling clothing, accessories, jewellery and all types of tasty tidbits. It’s a small sale – and intimate. You can stop and have lunch or a cup of tea and delicious sweets. Forget about that diet!

Another favourite event is the fall book sale at the Edmonton Public Library that is taking place on that same weekend – from 9:00 AM on Friday until Sunday 3pm. (check their web site for exact hours). If you want volume then Sunday is the day to go. From 1 until 3 pm you can buy an entire box of books for only $10 – and they will even throw in the box! Personally I like going first thing on Friday morning so that I can get first dibs on design and art books  – not to mention history books. This sale is happening on the lower level of the downtown library – the Stanley Milner library.
